"Between 00:00 and 06:00 am, 10 quakes were recorded, seismic blasts occurred for 4-15 seconds and CO2 gas concentrations were recorded at 1.18 percent," said Surono, head of the Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Agency (PVMBG), at the Dieng volcano observation post at Karangtengah, Batur, Banjarnegara District, on Saturday.
He said that on Friday (June 3) at 00:00 to 6:00 there were four blasts, at 6:00 to 12:00 seven seismic blasts, 12:00 to 18:00 four seismic blasts, and only one between 18.00 and 24.00.
"The duration of each seismic blast averaged 5-25 seconds," he said.
Besides the seismic activity, the PVMBG had also recorded an increase in CO2 concentrations compared to the previous day when they were documented at only 0.81 percent.
"The unstable CO2 gas concentrations show pressure inside Mount Dieng which located below its crater Weigh and permanent residents are advised to evacuate," he said. (A050/HAJM)
