Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - Star-rated hotels in Bali saw average room occupancy rate in April increase 0.87 percent to 64.03 percent from 63.16 percent in March.

"The increase in room occupancy rate was closely related to the rising number of domestic and foreign tourist arrivals in the resort island," Head of the Bali Provincial Statistics Office I Gede Suarsa said here on Sunday.

A total of 224,704 foreign tourists visited Bali in April, a 21.52 percent increase compared with April last year, he said.

Overall, the number of tourist arrivals in the four months through April reached 848,899, up 13.37 percent from 748,754 in the same period last year, he said.

Gede Suarsa said star-rated hotels in the provincial capital Denpasar recorded the highest room occupancy rate of 66.48 percent in April, followed by Badung district 65.08 percent, Gianyar district 57.90 percent, Karangasem district 48.40 percent, Buleleng district 48.36 percent and Tabanan district 41.85 percent.

No star-rated hotels are found in the three districts of Jembrana, Bangli and Klungkung.

Meanwhile, the room occupancy rate of non-star hotels in Bali averaged 34.69 percent in April, down from 38.37 percent a month earlier.(*)
