Bandarlampung (ANTARA News) - A moderate earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale jolted Gunung Sitoli in North Sumatra at 9.54 am local time on Tuesday.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was located 115 kilometers southwest of Gunungsitolo 1.13 degrees northern latitude and 96.57 degrees eastern longitude at a depth of 28 kilometers under the sea level.

BMKG said the epicenter of the earthquake with no potential of triggering a tsunami was also located 151 kilometers southeast of Sinabang, 186 kilometers southwest of Singkilbaru, and 145 kilometers southeast of Tapaktuan in Aceh.

On Monday, June 6, a 3.9-magnitude earthquake also shook part of Banjarnegara district in Central Java following another temblor measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale early on Sunday.

Monday`s earthquake in Banjarnegara at 2 am on Monday was centered 24 km northwest of Kebumen district at a depth of 11 kilometers under the sea level.

The quake was located 7.46 degrees southern latitude and 109.66 degrees eastern longitude, the agency said.

On Sunday, the temblor measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale struck about 9 p.m. local time, was located 7.60 degrees southern latitude and 109.67 eastern longitude or at a depth of 10 km, Ahmad Lani said.

Also on Sunday a 4.3-magnitude earthquake shook Muara Aman, Lebong district, Bengkulu province, at 4.41 p.m.

The quake was centered 65 km southwest of Muara Aman at a depth of 56 km, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said in its official website. (T.SYS/A/O001/A/O001)
