"I have received confirmation that nursing organizations in the five countries will send delegates to the international conference," the chairman of Indonesian National Nurses Association in Aceh, Saifuddin AR, said here Wednesday.
He said the international conference held for the first time in Aceh would be opened by Aceh Governor Irwandi Yusuf amd also be attended by approximately 300 nurses from all Indonesian provinces.
The conference was expected to boost Aceh`s ambition to become world-class medical research region.
The conference. themed "nursing research and improving health services in providing nursing care", was also designed to disseminate the results of clinical nursing research conducted in advanced and developing countries, Saifuddin said.
"What we expect from the conference is encouragement to improve the quality of nursing services, particularly in Aceh, giving them confidence and skills of nurses in facing the health challenges in the future," said Saifuddin who is also the director of Aceh`s Mental Hospital.
The conference would include a one-day seminar attended by academics from various universities in Indonesia and overseas.The scholars will present the results of their research on nursing.
In addition, the delegates from outside Aceh will also visit a number of tsunami attractions in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar district as well as see the beauty of natural scenery in Sabang city.
Aceh is one of the areas hardest-hit by the tsunami disaster, which affected the destruction of public infrastructures and houses and swallow the victim died more than 200 thousand people on December 26, 2004.
"Terrible disaster in this century (the tsunami) was expected to be a lesson for everyone, especially the nurses about what to do if in their area occurred the natural disasters as well," Saifuddin hoped.
