Gorontalo, Nothern Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - The World Maize Conference (WMC) which was to be held in October 2011, had been postponed until October 2012, head of the Gorontalo Maize Information Center Muljady D. Mario said.

"The Gorontalo Governor had met the Agricultural Ministry secretary general to discuss the WMC preparations," he said Tuesday.

The Gorontalo provincial administration as host has also receive Agriculture Minister`s Decision no 2679/Kpts/OT.160/5/2011 on holding the conference and its organizing committee.

He said the confidence of the central government to Gorontalo to host the event is a recognition of the rapid growth taking place in the area.

WMC will be attended by some 600 delegates from 32 countries as corn importers and exporters.(*)
