"Don`t overreact (to bomb threats) because they are merely intended to scare people," he said on the sidelines of an e-Indonesia Initiative (e-II) Forum VII 2011 at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) campus.
After all, he said, his ministry would always be wary of bomb threats by coordinating with police to trace the account of the person who had posted the bomb threat on the Tweeter social networking service under the name of Alhamazah.
The account user could be a local or foreign citizen, he said.
"We, together with the police, have been consistent in minimizing crimes and violations on cyber media. We will ask the operator of the social networking service to close the account if his/her file carries agitation, propaganda and threats to scare people," he said.
If found guilty, the account user could be sentenced to a maximum of 12 years in jail under the law on cyber media or information and electronic transactions, he said. (*)
