House Commission IX chairman Ribka Citjaning issued the urge after expressing deep condolences for the grieving relatives of the late Suyati binti Satubi at Kampung Srengseng Raya, Suka Darma village, Sukatani sub-districrt, Bekasi regency on Tuesday.
Ribka said the government, in this case the manpower and transmigration ministry, lacked seriousness in imposing a moratorium of the result of a working committee through a recent working session in commission IX.
The lack of seriousness was apparent from the absence of the manpower and transmigration minister and some relevant circles at the working session.
Ribka said it was about time to impose the moratorium in view of the TKI protection law.
"Law no 39 is the soul of household helpers, and it still had to be passed," he said.
Ribka said the moratorium had actually already been discussed in 2005.
The six-member group of commission IX had a meeting and dialog with the relatives of the late Suyati for 30 minutes, and left after providing some relief assistance. (*)
