IPB Rector Prof DR Herry Suhardiyanto said the Seed Center would produce prime seeds with the help of agricultural experts in Indonesia.
The Seed Center development is expected to help boost the national agricultural progress which has so far facing a problem of seed supply.
"The Seed Center will become a place for agricultural experts in Indonesia to develop new varieties of seeds which can increase our agricultural commodity production," he said.
According to the IPC rector, Indonesia has to import seeds so far. The Seed Center is expected to conduct researches and the findings by the country`s agricultural experts will be developed and applied widely.
The Seed Center is established in cooperation with a number of agricultural faculties throughout Indonesia.
The center will develop and produce not only agricultural seeds but also high quality seeds from plantations, animal husbandry and fishery.
Located at Leuwikopo, Dramaga, Bogor District, West Java Province, the Seed Center will be officially launched in the near future. Its vision is to produce prime seeds. (*)
