Jakarta, J (ANTARA) - Police have named a suspect in the case of the alleged forgery of a Constitutional Court (MK) document, deputy chief of the National Police`s Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) Insp. Gen. Mathius Salempang said.

"We have named a suspect but we are sorry we can not yet reveal the suspect`s identity," Mathius Salembang said here on Thursday.

He also refused to disclose how many persons had been named suspects in the case.

Regarding the locations of the alleged crime, the Bareskrim deputy chief said the forgery case began at the MK office.

As a result of the alleged forgery of the MK ruling in 2009, Dewi Yasin Limpo from the People`s Conscience Party (Hanura) failed to gain a seat in the House of Representatives (DPR).

"The alleged forgery began in the MK office. So we investigated it in the MK office first. This does not mean that we are not going to investigate the case in the General Elections Commission (KPU)," he said.

On the four persons questioned on Tuesday, Mathias said they were questioned as witnesses.

"The persons we questioned on Tuesday as witnesses were those who were present in a room of MK where the document was believed to have been forged," he said.

Nineteen people have so far been questioned in connection with the alleged MK document forgery. The four witnesses who were grilled on Tuesday were Nallom Kurniawan, Alifah Rahmawati, Pan Muhammad Fais dan Riska Aprian.

Police had earlier disclosed they had found a copy of the MK ruling in 2009 on the failure of Dewi Yasin Limpo, who would represent the South Sulawesi constituency, to sit in the House of Representatives.

The alleged forgery case was being investigated in response to a report to the police by MK chairman Mahfud MD that Andi Nurpati, a former KPU member, was implicated in it.(*)
