Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - Vice President Boediono is scheduled to attend a so-called "Gebyar Madu" (honey festival) event in the Senggigi tourist resort in West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province.

NTB Forestry Office spokesman Hartina said here on Friday that Gebyar Madu was actually a separate activity in the agenda of the vice president`s visit to West Nusa Tenggara.

"Attending the Gebyar Madu event is not actually in the agenda the vice president`s visit but after being coordinated, he agreed to attend it," Hartina said.

She said Gebyar Madu was part of National Honey Week which is to be launched by Forestry Minister Zulkifli Hassan at Bumi Gora square in Mataram on Tuesday, July 12, 2011.

The launch of National Honey Week, according to her, was intended to cultivate and preserve the honey as one of healthful food commodity, and to introduce Sumbawa as the center of national and international honey.

Besides, it is also intended to strengthen the image of honey from Sumbawa, and to arouse the local people`s pride of expanding the Sumbawa`s honey production centers in other areas.

Hartina said Vice President Boediono on Monday, July 11 would open an international forestry conference at Sentosa Hotel in Senggigi tourist resort.

"At night, Honey Bee Night will be conducted as part of the National Honey Week," Hartina said, adding that the vice president and madame Herawati Boediono would arrive at Selaparang airport in Mataram on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at 1.30 pm local time.
