Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian police have already found clues to the whereabouts of former Democrat Party (PD) treasurer Muhammad Nazaruddin who is wanted as a corruption suspect, the police`s chief of detectives said.

"We a;ready have clues to where his is now," Head of the National Police`s Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) Inp. Gen. Sutarman said here on Monday.

But Suratman did not disclose the whereabouts of Nazaruddin abroad.

"We will not disclose it for fear he will run again," Suratman said.

He said police were working maximally to arrest Nazaraddin as part of their efforts to help the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"We will coordinate with the international police, particularly with regard to the country which has no bilateral relations with Indonesia. We have to respect the country where he is," he said.

The KPK has named Nazaruddin as one of the suspects in the alleged corruption case of the construction a SEA Games athlete house in Palembang, South Sumatra.

Nazaruddin escaped to Singapore recently one day before a travel ban was clamped on him.

Legislator Martin Hutabarat said that the former PD general treasurer would return to Indonesia at the end of this month but he was afraid of his safety so that he needed police protection.

"I got the information from Nazaruddin`s close friend. I myself doubt the information," Martin, who is member of the House of Representatives (DPR)`s Commission III on legal affairs, said during a public discussion over the polemics of Nazaruddin`s case here over the weekend.
