Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is sending three teams from the Indonesian Migrant Worker Task Force to countries where Indonesian workers are facing death sentences.

The president told the press at Halim Perdanakusuma airport here on Thursday that three teams from the Task Force would leave for Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, China and Singapore.

"The Task Force Chief, Pak (Mr) Maftuh Basyuni reports that there are three teams which will go to Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, China and Singapore," the president said.

He said that the team for Saudi Arabia was led by Maftuh Basyuni and would leave on Thursday evening. He would be there until July 21, 2011.

The second team led by Bambang Hendarso Danuri will leave Kuala Lumpur on July 19, 2011 while the third team will be led by Hendarman Supandji and leave for China on July 23, 2011.

"This is an effort made to try to safe our brothers who are facing death penalties due to the crimes they have committed in those countries," the President said.

Yudhoyono said that they had commonly committed crimes such as murders and drug offenses.

"No matter how small the chance for them is, we will do our best to ask for pardon or leniency from our friendly countries," the head of state said.

An Indonesian migrant worker who worked as domestic helper was recently executed by beheading in Saudi Arabia after she was found guilty.

Ruyati who was sent to Saudi Arabia by manpower supplier firm PT Dasa Graha Utama, was found guilty of killing the wife of her Saudi employer, Khairiya bint Hamid Mijlid, on January 12, 2010 by striking her repeatedly on the head with a meat chopper and stabbing her in the neck.

Ruyati was executed on Saturday, June 18, 2011.(*)
