Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta Police predicted that the number of Idul Fitri travelers using motorcycles would increase by 15 percent this year from those last year, a police officer said.

"The number of motorists going to home towns to celebrate post-fasting festivities this year is expected to increase by 15 percent. This is based on the increasing trend in the motorcycle sales," Jakarata Police Director for Traffic Affairs Senior Commissioner Royke Lumowa said here on Tuesday.

He said that the increase in the motorcycle sales happened after certain class train tickets for various directions during the Idul Fitri festivities at the end of next August, had been sold up.

The Jakarta Police recorded the number of motorcyclists in the 2010 Idul Fitri festivities at 375,000 units while demand for motorcycles had reached 900 per day.

He said that travelers using motorcycles came from Tangerang, Bogor, Depok, Bekasi and around Jakarta while their destination cities included East Java, Central Java, West Java and a number of cities in Sumatra.
