The two neighborhoods namely Kampung Ambon, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, and Johar Baru, Central Jakarta, would be closely monitored by the police, the director of narcotics division of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Nugroho Aji, said here on Wednesday.
He suspected the frequency of narcotic drugs transactions in the two neighborhoods was very high or happened almost 24 hours long with turnover reaching hundred millions a day.
He said a big trader has been supplying the stuff to the neighborhoods but he did not live there.
He said the two neighborhoods have been chosen for narcotics distribution because population conditions there were ideal for it.
He said the police would also seek the possibilities that the drugs distribution was linked to recent community brawls in the areas.
He said the police had heard that narcotics dealers had provoked the people of Johar Baru to launch the brawl while they were conducting drugs transactions.
