Bengkulu (ANTARA News) - Bengkulu Mayor Ahmad Kanedi has said civil servants who were not fasting during Ramadan holy month in August would be dismissed from their jobs.

"All civil servants who are found having lunch at public places such as restaurants during the fasting month this year will face the strongest possible sanction of dismissal from their jobs," Ahmad Kanedi said here on Monday.

He explained that any member of the civil servants who was found not fasting, the dismissal penalty would be imposed to him or her on the spot with no strings attached.

Ahmad also called on the people to play an active role in helping Bengkulu city government enforce discipline during the fasting month.

"I will present Rp1 million to anyone who is able to find a civil servant eating at public places such as restaurants, market places, and bust terminals," Ahmad said. (*)
