Jambi (ANTARA News) - Police have caught two people on suspicion of having removed and taken away an automatic teller machine (ATM) of a bank in Jambi.

The suspects are Zulkarnaen (39) and Suhaimi (31) of Thehok village, Jambi Selatan sub-district, who had been caught by Pasar police by the end of last week, Pasar police chief Adjunct Commissioner Andre Sukendar said in Jambi Monday.

The arrest of Zulkarnaen came after Sukron (38) an employ of an oil palm plantation reported to have lost Rp13 million in cash on Saturday at 1.15 pm local time.

Based on the report the police conducted an investigation and in several hours only caught Zulkarnaen in front of his house in Thehok. The police also arrested his friend Suhaimi (31).

The victim has just drawn money from the ATM which had been removed and taken away by the perpetrators.

For their crime, the two suspects have violated article 363 of the Criminal Code on theft.

In the meantime at the police station Zulkarnain said it was the very first time he stole the money form the victim.

Suhaimi also told the police it was the first time he committed the crime.

Zulkarnaen was actually an ATM thief, as the police recognized his motorcycle.

The suspect is member of an ATM broker in several areas, not only in Jambi, along with his friend still wanted by the police. Their actions covered Batam, Bandung, and Jakarta.
