Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto said the bag of former Democratic Party`s general treasurer M. Nazaruddin he had with him when arrested had been sealed and kept by Indonesian Ambassador to Colombia Michael Manufandu.

"I contacted the ambassador last night, a small handbag had been given to the ambassador for safekeeping and sealed, and then kept by the embassy," Djoko said at the Presidential Office in Jakarta Tuesday, prior to a meeting on the Presidential Speech which President Yudhoyono will deliver on August 16, 2011.

Djoko said Nazaruddin had the initiative to hand over the bag for safekeeping. Therefore the Indonesian embassy sealed the bag and make sure that nobody opens it and try to find out its content.

"It will be handed over to a coming team in the presence of Nazarudin in person, the Colombian police, the embassy and the team.So there will be four sides to witness the handing over of the contents," he said.

Djoko added that Nazaruddin is now in the custody of the Colombia police, but the Indonesian embassy is constantly monitoring the condition of the suspect. He said Nazaruddin is quite well and still fasting.

"So, the embassy made sure that the suspect is treated well, including his meals," he said.

Upon his return to Indonesia, Nazaruddin will be directly facing the law and the corruption eradication commission (KPK), Djoko said.

Nazaruddin was arrested in Cartagena, a famous tourist resort in Colombia, and used a fake identity and passport with the name M. Sjahruddin in that country.

The Indonesian embassy planned to deport Nazaruddin this week.

A staff member of the Indonesian embassy in Bogota I Made Subagia when contacted from Jakarta on Monday night said that under Colombia`s laws he has only two working days to produce a diplomatic note for Nazaruddin`s deportation.

"So, since he (Nazaruddin) was arrested on Monday, we have only two days (until Wednesday) to produce the diplomatic note," he said.

Therefore, he said, he has to move and work fast until Wednesday to produce the diplomatic note.

According to past experience, Subagia said, he could produce a diplomatic note in two working days.

Made added that he continued coordination and cooperation with the Foreign Ministry to deport Nazaruddin.

"Right now we are awaiting the arrival of the team from Jakarta," he said. (*)
