Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A legislator from the House of Representatives` (DPR) Law Commission III, Bambang Soesatyo, said the public believes Nazaruddin was not alone in the corrupt acts he is accused of.

"Therefore, we hope the KPK (Corruption Eradication Commission) can uncover what has really happened in connection with Nazaruddin`s decision to shut his mouth and his readiness to sacrifice himself in the case," the legislator from the Golkar Party told ANTARA News here on Thursday.

Nazaruddin, the former treasurer of the ruling Democrat Party, had accused several party elite members of being involved in his case in his statements made from his hiding places.

He left the country on May 23 or a day before the KPK requested a travel ban for him in connection with his alleged involvement in the bribery case linked to a SEA Games athlete village project in Palembang, Sumatra. He was caught in Cartagena, Colombia, recently.

Nazaruddin`s lawyer OC Kaligis had said that Nazaruddin planned to keep silent during investigation by KPK.

"His lawyer has also said that he (Nazaruddin) would also express readiness to sacrifice himself in exchange for the safety of his wife and children," Soesatyo said.

In view of the situation he said there was no reason for KPK for not unveiling possible conspiracy behind Nazaruddin`s case.

"I reaffirm that the public hopes very much that the KPK would be able to unveil what has really happened," he said.

Soesatyo said the public believed Nazaruddin did not act by himself because corruption would never happen without the involvement of political power.

He said "the people are waiting for KPK`s breakthroughs to unveil `those elites who are behind the gun`. So prove it."
