Merak, Banten (ANTARA News) - Tens of travelers fainted after they had been in their cars for hours in a queue to buy ferry tickets at Merak port in Banten province, West Java, on Saturday.

"One of them was referred to RSCM hospital due to his condition," Dr Erwin Hilanka of Merak port health center, said.

Susilawati, another traveler who fainted but later recovered, said she fell unconscious after lining up for 12 hours. "As I recall I went to the bathroom but I eventually found myself at a health post," she said.

Her father, Saleh, said he had been in queue since 3 am at the port. "My daughter happens to be physically weak. She fainted while going to the toilet after being in a car for 12 hours," he said.

A long queue of private cars carrying families was still seen at the port waiting to cross to Sumatra.

Port operator PT ASDP had put 30 ferry boats into service to transport people and vehicles from Merak to Bakauheni in Lampung, Sumatra.
