Head of air transportation office of the Mimika transportation, communications and information agency John Rettob said the remains of the two Susi Air crew members will be flown to Biak by a Pilatus Porter of the same airline company for further flown to Jakarta.
"We have just received news that the two Susi Air crew members would not be flown to Wamena or Silimo, but brought to Piramit some 15 minutes away from the accident site and then taken by a Pilatus Porter to be flown to Biak," John said.
John said a Susi Air executive plane, an Avanti, had already landed at Biak Wednesday morning to bring the remains of Dave and Thomas, and today flown to Jakarta.
"The Avanti of Susi Air had already landed in Biak to take the two remains of the crew members to Jakarta," he added.
Thus John said the flight of the remains of the Susi Air crew members to Timika had been canceled.
Right now a number of army helicopters and Airfast choppers of PT Freeport Indonesia and a number of Susi Air planes were still mobilizing SAR teams from the accident site to return to Wamena.
The Susi Air Grand Caravan C 208 B went down on Friday (Sept 9) afternoon, and found at coordinate 042497 southern latitude and 1390017 eastern latitude not far from Saminage, Silimo Area, Yahukimo regency, at an altitude of 9.000-10,000 feet.
The ill-fated plane was piloted by Dave Coots and co-piloted by Thomas Munk, both foreigners. The plane went down when flying from Wamena to Kenyam, Nduga regency carrying four drums of diesel fuel and 150 kilograms of other cargo. (*)
