After the meeting with Vice President Boediono, Watson told newsmen that he discussed with the vice president the history of Chevron Corporation in Indonesia in relation with a geothermal development project.
"I told the vice president that Chevron Corporation wants to be in Indonesia until after 85 years because we have a lot of investment opportunities in this country," Watson said.
Chevron Corporation is an American multinational energy corporation headquartered in San Ramon, California, United States and active in more than 180 countries.
It is engaged in every aspect of the oil, gas, and geothermal energy industries, including exploration and production; refining, marketing and transport; chemicals manufacturing and sales; and power generation.
Chevron is one of the world`s six "supermajor" oil companies. For the past five years, Chevron has been continuously ranked as one of America`s 5 largest corporations by Fortune 500.
In 2011 it was named the 16th largest public company in the world by Forbes Global 2000.
Watson said investment opportunities covered geothermal exploration in Sumatra and deep sea energy.
He added that Vice President Boediono also supported the existence of the company in Indonesia, and therefore Watson said that with a stable and conducive investment climate in the country, Chevron was in standby position to invest in the coming years.
Meanwhile, vice presidential spokesman Yopie Hidayat said Vice President Boediono and the Chevron Corporation CEO did not discuss specific projects or issues.
"It was just a courtesy call and thus no specific issue or project was discussed," Yopie said.
According to Yopie Hidayat, the meeting of Vice President Boediono and Watson started at 1 on Thursday afternoon and lasted about 30 minutes.
