The agreement emerged following a meeting between Indonesian Air Force Chief of Dtaff Marshal Imam Sufaat and his Japanese counterpart General Shigeru Iwasaki here on Monday.
In the closed-door meeting, Imam Sufaat raised the possibility of exchange of cadets and officers between the two countries.
In response to it, General Shigeru said there would be further talks at middle and top levels. Further talks also needed to be done in the future on joint training between the two countries` air forces.
Besides exploring the possibilities of cooperation, the two air force leaders also exchanged appreciation for the aid the two countries had given to each other during natural disasters.
Imam Sufaat expressed appreciation to Japan for its post-tusnami aid to Aceh in 2004 and General Shigeru for Indonesia`s assistance to Japan follwing the recent tsunami there.
