West Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - A Search and Rescue (SAR) team continued efforts of locating a missing helicopter of PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara here on Monday morning, a spokesman of the mining company said.

Public Relations Manager of PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (PTNNT) Rubi Purnomo said here on Monday that the chopper lost contact on Sunday (Sept 25) at 1.42 pm when flying from Newmont camp to Lamurung in Ropang sub district, Sumbawa District.

Newmont is currently exploring Elang Dodo block in Ropang sub district, Sumbawa District, around 75 kilometers from Sumbawa Besar.

"The SAR team of Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI), Police personnel and members of the local community are currently conducting the search," he said.

According to Rubi, the last contact will be ill-fated chopper was made on Sunday at 1.42 pm local time.

"The helicopter has three people on board, namely a pilot and two employees (of Newmont)," katanya.

Rubi said the Newmont management hoped the rented chopper could be found soon.

Newmont in its routine operations is using two helicopter landing pads to carry employees and logistics. It takes around 20 minutes by helicopter to fly to the two locations.
