Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono`s plan to reshuffle his cabinet is something natural if it is based on a clear benchmark with priority on professionalism, Golkar Party deputy secretary general Happy Bone Zulkarnain said.

"It is natural so long as a cabinet reshuffle is intended to build a better government, and now is the most appropriate moment to carry it out," Happy Bone said in a discussion on "Polemic: They Say There Will Be A Reshuffle", here over the weekend.

The speakers in the discussion included Golkar Party Happy Bone Zulkarnaen, Indo Barometer Director Muhammad Qodari, and Sugeng Sardjadi Syndicate political observer Sukardi Rinakit.

Happy also agreed with presidential spokesman Daniel Sparingga that President Yudhoyono`s plan to reshuffle the cabinet was to improve the style of national leadership in order to step up performance.

Daniel said the president would reshuffle his cabinet because the head of state wanted the cabinet ministers to change their leadership style, namely accelerate the implementation of all programs at all ministerial level.

"The president wants the ministers to change the style of national leadership by improving their performance," Daniel said, adding that the President was almost certain to reshuffle the cabinet next month.

"President Yudhoyono has already mentioned the cabinet reshuffle plan explicitly at a limited meeting on Friday," Daniel said in the discussion on Saturday.

But he added that President Yudhoyono to date has yet to discuss the reshuffle with the ministers as well as the leaders of political parties whose ministers would be replaced, except with Vice President Boediono.

"The president will probably discuss the matter with the ministers and the political party leaders next week," Daniel said.(*)
