The three-day meeting was held to finalize and sign a parallel audit report on mangrove management in Malacca Strait, the Indonesian State Audit Board (BPK) said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
The statement said the meeting also discussed a plan to conduct a parallel audit of fishery and maritime management and water source management.
The meeting served as implementation of cooperation between both sides in the fields of institutional capacity building and parallel audit. The institutional capacity building includes training, research and development, while the parallel audit covers environmental audit, tax, customs and excise audits.
The meeting was opened by BPK member Ali Masykur Musa and attended by Deputy Auditor General of the Malaysian State Audit Board (JAN) Dato` Hj. Mustafa bin Saman, chief auditors Abdul Latief and Saiful Anwar Nasution of BPK, Head of the BPK Provincial Office in North Sulawesi Rochmadi Saptogiri, among others.
Ali Masykur Musa expressed hope that both sides could benefit from the meeting to exchange experiences as part of efforts to improve the quality of audit.
"We hope BPK of Indonesia and JAN of Malaysia could improve the quality of state finance management and accountability of each other`s country according to the slogan of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), namely `Experientia Mutua Omnibus Prodes` or Mutual Experience Benefits for All`," he said.
