Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukia Amano will visit Indonesia to increase cooperation between Indonesia and his agency.

"He will make the visit on October 6-8, 2011," spokesman of the Office of the Minister for Research and Technology Munwir told ANTARA through an electronic dispatch here on Wednesday.

He said that on Thursday, Oct 6, the IAEA director general would deliver a public lecture at the office of the minister for research and technology.

In the afternoon, Yukia, in the company of a deputy to the minister of research and technology, the head of the National Atomic Energy Agency (BATAN) and other officials, will hold a press conference at 4 pm.

He is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Vice President Boediono to exchange views on the utilization of nuclear technology in Indonesia and various other world nuclear issues.

Munawir said that the IAEA director general was former chairman of the IAEA board of governors from September 2005 to September 2006, and served as Japan`s permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, Austria, until he was elected director general of IAEA on December 1, 2009.
