Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Monday questioned Youth and Sports Minister Andi Malarangeng as a witness in the SEA Games athletes village project corruption case involving former Democrat Party treasurer Mohammad Nazaruddin.

"They asked me about the budgeting system for the SEA Games athletes village project," Andi told reporters after being quizzed for almost two hours.

The minister arrived at the KPK building at 10.00 am and left again at 11.53 am.

KPK spokesman Johan Budi said Andi had been summoned as a witness in a corruption case where Muhammad Nazaruddin was the main suspect.

Earlier, it was reported that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had summoned two ministers over alleged corruption in their ministries.

Presidential Special Aide for Political Communications Affairs Daniel Sparingga said the two ministers who were summoned by the president were Sports and Youth Affairs Miniser Andi Mallarangeng and Manpower and Transmigration Minister Muhaimin Iskandar.

"They have been summoned to explain (the alleged corruption cases) as clearly as possible," he said.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was now investigating an alleged corruption case in the construction of a SEA Games athletes village in Palembang, South Sumatra.

A number of parties suspected that Andi Mallarangeng was involved in the case.

In the meantime, Muhaimin Iskandar was also said to be implicated in a bribery case connected with an infrastructure project at the manpower and transmigration ministry which is also being investigated by the KPK.

Sparingga said the president summoned the two ministers as soon as their names were publicly mentioned by suspects arrested by the KPK in the two corruption cases. But Sparinnga did say on what dates the President had summoned the two ministers.
