Pekanbaru, Riau (ANTARA News) - Riau province`s non-oil/non-gas exports to its seven main export destinations fell in July 2011, causing its overall exports to plunge 36.65 percent to US$1.229 billion from a month earlier.

"Overall, non-oil/non-gas exports to seven of 10 main destination countries declined," Head of the Riau Provincial Statistics Office Abdul Manaf said here on Tuesday.

Data from the statistics office show exports to India fell by US$163.39 million, China US$119 million, Italy US$93.31 million, Malaysia US$62.98 million, Bangladesh US$61.16 million, the Netherlands US$55.08 million and Spain US$20.87 million.

"However, exports to the United States, South Korea and Brazil respectively rose by US$16.59 million, US$14.0 million and US$7.42 million," he said.

He said India was the biggest market for Riau`s non-oil/non-gas exports with a value of US$129.37 million, followed by China US$88.85 million, the Netherlands US$77.87, Malaysia US$48.47 million and Bangladesh US$42.34 million.

"The contribution of exports to the five countries reached 53.09 percent of Riau`s overall non-oil/non-gas exports," he said.

In the seven months through July 2011 Riau`s non-oil/non-gas exports to the ten countries accounted for 73.60 percent of its overall non-oil/non-gas exports, he said.

Compared to a month earlier, non-oil/non-gas exports fell 48.35 percent to US$728.75 million in July.
