HARLEYSVILLE, Pa., Oct. 20, 2011 (ANTARA/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) --

Colorcon, Inc. will introduce a new optimized performance film coating system, Opadry(R) 200, during the week of October 24, 2011 at both the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. (Booth #2237) and the CPhI Worldwide Event in Frankfurt, Germany (Stand #42J05). Opadry 200 represents Colorcon's continued innovation and leadership in ensuring a full line of functional options for pharmaceutical formulators.

Colorcon developed Opadry 200 in response to industry demand for continual improvement in performance and cost. According to Kamlesh Oza, General Manager of Film Coatings at Colorcon, "Pharmaceutical scientists today work with medications that have known sensitivity to light, moisture and oxygen. It has been a challenge to find a fully formulated product that can quickly coat those products in a cost effective manner and protect them. Our new system is an optimized performance, low tack, high-film strength, immediate release system that helps cut manufacturing time, and achieves best-in-class moisture protection along with superior product appearance."

Opadry 200 systems are designed using compendial ingredients that meet the regional and/or global regulatory requirements of the user when developing NCE, OTC or generic products.
