"We are at present following up a visit to Indonesia by a South African delegation last March and May to explore cooperation with West Java in the trade and industrial sectors, agriculture, tourism, and sister province program," Indonesian Ambassador to South Africa, Sjahril Sabarudin, said here on Friday.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan, Sjahril said the South African government had a profound interest in Indonesia, especially West Java.
He said the South African government had started targeting potential trade and tourism in West Java with a visit to the province by representatives of the provinces of Limpopo and Free State.
Sjahril said South Africa had been eyeing West Java`s potentials for some time, and therefore he had met Governor Heryawan to discuss the matter.
"I had a long discussion with the governor because we want to promote West Java`s products in South Africa," Sjahril said.
He said South Africa`s economy was advanced and therefore he had invited the West Java governor to visit the county in the near future to discuss the cooperation plan with related parties in South Africa.
Meanwhile, Governor Heryawan said he welcomed South Africa`s offer to cooperate and would in coordination with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) identify West Java products that could be exported to South Africa.
