Palembang, South Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Eleven SEA Games records have been broken by swimmers from Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam in the 26th SEA Games 2011.

SEA Games 2011 swimming event committee official Herlambang said here on Friday Indonesian and Thai athletes each broke three records, Vietnamese athletes one and Singaporean athletes four.

On the first day of the competitions, Thai swimmer Nutthapong Ketin broke the men`s 200 meter breast stroke record finishing in two minutes 12.99 seconds or faster than two minutes 13.42 seconds he made in 2009.

Li Tao from Singapore meanwhile made a new record after finishing 100 meter butterfly in 58.84 seconds in the 26th SEA Games to break the record of 59.24 seconds she made in 2009.

The third new record was made by Natthanan Jungkrajang from Thailand who finished in 4 minutes and 50.88 seconds in the 400 meter individual medley in the SEA Games this year to break the record of Jocelin Yeo from Singapore at f:51.87 made in 2009.

The fourth new record was made by Quy Phuoc Hoang from Vietnam in the 100 meter butterfly style. She clocked 53.07 in the 26th SEA Games to break the record of Daniel Bego from Malaysia at 53.82 made in 2009.

Indonesian Yessy Yossaputra made the fifth new record in the 200 meter women`s backstroke. She clocked 2:15.73 in the 26th SEA Games to break the record of 2:16.76 made by Akkiko Thomson from the Philippines in 1993.

The sixth new recorded was in the 200 meter men`s butterfly style by Joseph Issag Schooling from Singapore who finished in one minute and 56.67 seconds in the 26th SEA Games breaking the old record of two minutes and 00.45 seconds made by James Walsh from the Philippines in 2007.

The seventh new record of 25.77 seconds was made in the 50 meter women`s free style by Xiang Qi Amanda Lim from Singapore to break the old record of 25.82 seconds under her own name made in 2009.

Indonesian I Gede Siman Sudartawa broke the eighth record in the 100 meter backstroke clocking 55.59 seconds faster that the old record of Lim Keng Liat from Malaysia at 56.16 seconds made in 2001.

Singaporean Li Tao broke the ninth record swimming in the 100 meter women`s backstroke in the 26th SEA Games. She clocked 1:02.11 to break the old record under her own name at 1:02.96 made in 2009.

The tenth new record was made by Thai Nutthapong Ketin who finished in 2:02.90 to break the record made by Rattapong Sirisanot also from Thailand at 2:03.54 made in 2003.

The 11th new record meanwhile was made by the Indonesian team in the 400 meter men`s medley relay who clocked 3:41.35 to break the old record of 3:41.72 made also by the Indonesian team in 2009.
