Tripoli (ANTARA News/AFP) - Seif al-Islam, the captured son of Moamer Kadhafi, will be tried in Libya despite being wanted by the International Criminal Court, the vice chairman of the interim National Transitional Council said on Sunday.

"The decision is that he will be tried by Libyan courts. It is a question of national sovereignty," NTC vice chairman and official spokesman Abdel Hafiz Ghoga told a news conference.

Ghoga, confirming earlier remarks by Libya`s interim justice minister about the venue of the trial, said that Seif, who was captured on Saturday in south Libya, was receiving "adequate protection."

The ICC has indicted Seif for crimes against humanity allegedly committed in crushing anti-regime protests. On Saturday, the ICC said Libya must hand him over but held out the prospect of a trial in Tripoli. (*)
