Muaratebo, Jambi (ANTARA News) - Two people were recently reported to have died of dengue fever at Sultan Thaha Saefuddin general hospital in Tebo district, Jambi province, hospital spokesman dr Hendra said here on Thursday.

Hendra said besides the two fatalities, 11 others dengue patients were still being treated at the hospital.

"The 11 dengue patients are still being treated at the Sultan Thaha Saefuddin hospital," Hendra said, adding that the two victims died recently because they were late to get medical treatment at the hospital.

According to him, many more dengue victims might still be treated at several clinics in Tebu but he was not sure.

"You can get data on the exact number of dengue patients directly from the provincial health office," Hendra told newsmen here on Thursday.

Jambi is dengue fever endemic with the cases continued to increase by 800 with 27 deaths in the past two months.

Jambi city administration spokesman Subhi said recently that the dengue outbreak in Jambi has been declared as an extraordinary incident.

"Two weeks ago there were 700 cases but now it has increased to 800," Subhi said. (*)
