Until December 22, 2011 state revenues from import duties reached Rp24.684 trillion, export tax Rp28.267 trillion and excise receipts Rp74.811 trillion, Director General of Customs and Excise Agung Kuswandono said in a short message text on Monday.
This meant state revenues from customs and excise duties were Rp15.143 trillion higher than predicted, he said.
The Directorate General of Customs and Excise had earlier predicted state revenues from import duties this year to reach Rp25.057 trillion or 116.5 percent of the target, export tax Rp28.626 trillion (112.5 percent), excise Rp75.663 trillion (111.2 percent). In total, customs and excise receipts are predicted to reach Rp126.346 trillion or 12.5 percent higher than the target of Rp115 trillion for this year.
Agung said earlier his office would continue to increase customs and excise receipts although it had achieved the target set under the revised 2011 state budget at the end of November 2011.
To achieve the target, he said his office relied on export tax on crude palm oil because of its higher price in the global market.
Commenting on the target of customs and excise receipts for 2012, he said the target was quite difficult to achieve due to the threat of declining demand for CPO which had so far contributed the most to state revenues from export tax.
The government had proposed the target of customs and excise receipts in the 2012 state budget at Rp114.876 trillion, or 0.1 percent lower than the target set in the revised 2011 state budget.
The target of customs and excise receipts for 2012 consisted of import duties worth Rp23.534 trillion, excise Rp72.443 trillion, and export tax Rp18.889 trillion.
The target of import duties for 2012 increases 9.5 percent and excise receipts 6.4 percent, and export tax falls 25.7 percent compared to those set in the revised 2011 state budget. (S012)
