The offer was made by Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa during a meeting with his Myanmar counterpart U Wunna Maung Lwin in the 2nd Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) in Yangon, Myanmar, earlier in the day, the ministry said in a press release.
Indonesia offered to develop cooperation to build the capacities of the two countries` military and national police institutions.
During the meeting, the two ministers also discussed Indonesia`s intention to provide technical and capacity building assistance to Myanmar in such sectors as good governance, democracy and human rights protection.
Other topics raised at the meeting were the opening of an air link between Indonesia and Myanmar, cooperation in forestry and food security.
The two ministers also touched on regional issues, namely efforts to improve cooperation among ASEAN member countries and between ASEAN and neighboring countries in the East Asia and Asia Pacific region. They agreed on the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region.
