"The company has stated its commitment to give compensation to the crew. The repatriation is expected to be done soon after the negotiations between the crew and the company are completed," a spokesman of the Indonesian Embassy in Rome, Musrifun Lajawa, said here on Monday.
Musrifun also said the 170 crew were generally in good condition. Most of them were placed in three hotels, namely Leopoldo Grosetto, Nuovo Grosseto, and Fattoria la Principina in Italy.
"Only two have been hospitalized in San Giovanni di Dio di Orbetello hospital. They are Kadek Agus Wijaya and I Nyoman Juniarta. Kadek can leave the hospital today while Nyoman Juniarta who has a bone fracture has been transferred to a hospital in Vienna," he said.
Musrifun said most of the Indonesian crew members who survived the accident had lost their passports and other belongings and therefore the embassy in Rome would provide them with travel documents in lieu of passports.
Earlier, local media had reported, six people had died after the Costa Concordia on a trip around the Mediterranean hit a reef near the Isola del Giglio and ran aground off the Italian coast, forcing the coast guard to evacuate over 4,000 people.
