Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Businesspeople from the United States wants conducive regulations for doing business in Indonesia, US-ASEAN Business Council President Alexander C. Feldman said here on Wednesday.

"Many American companies have and will invest in Indonesia because the country has potential markets for them, but they need conducive regulations to increase business relations between the two countries," Feldman said.

The president of the US-ASEAN Business Council made the statement after he and a number of the council`s members met with Vice President Boediono.

The members of the US-ASEAN Business Council were in Indonesia for a five-day visit to meet with Vice President Boediono, several ministers, House members, and their Indonesian counterparts.

Feldman noted that a number of government policies under President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had already assisted the business climate in the country.

Seeing that the Government of Indonesia was serious in its effort to improve business regulations, Feldman promised to encourage as many US businessmen as possible to invest in Indonesia.

"We have seen a serious effort from the government to issue

conducive regulations and we highly appreciate it," said the US-ASEAN

Business Council president.

He noted that Indonesia had so far been an important partner with the US in the ASEAN region, and therefore many US companies had set their focus on investing in mining, manufacturing, and service sectors in Indonesia.
