Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A former Democrat Party`s treasurer has been named suspect in a money laundering case involving the purchase of shares worth Rp300.8 billion in national-flag carrier PT Garuda Indonesia.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) spokesman Johan Budi said Nazaruddin was named suspect following investigations into a bribery case dealing with the development of an athlete`s hotel in Jakabaring, South Sumatra, in which Nazaruddin had been named as defendant.

Johan said the purchase of PT Garuda Indonesia`s stock by Nazaruddin was revealed after witnesses Yulianis and Oktarina Furi (both are Nazaruddin`s former employees) confirmed it during trial.

He said Nazaruddin allegedly bought PT Garuda Indonesia shares using the fee he received from the development of athlete`s hotel in South Sumatra.

During trial, Yulianis said Nazaruddin had bought the stocks for Rp300.8 billion.
