Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - Bank Indonesia in Denpasar has projected a 25 percent credit growth in 2012 from the previous year, an official said.

"The projection is based on the aggressive lending and credit growth that was seen in previous years," said Bank Indonesia for Denpasar office Chief Jeffrey Kairupan on the sidelines the "Economic Outlook 2012" seminar here on Monday.

Jeffrey said that the growth of loans in 2011 amounted to 23.13 percent, with a total value of Rp30, 576 trillion.

The disbursement of the loan amount is channeled to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) based on the business category by 42 percent, while the loan itself was distributed according to the ceiling as much as 82 percent.

Of note, Jeffrey said the amount of credit distributed to the SMEs was only 1.18 percent of all non-performing loans (NPL).

According to Jeffrey, to support the projection or disbursement target, assistance from relevant agencies is needed. An example of this assistance is seen through coordinating with SMEs, then accompanying and directing them to become more eligible to receive bank loans.

Besides, the role and support from other agencies was also needed, especially in terms of improving access to the financial sector.

An example of this was the increasing role of Jamkrida (regional credit guarantor) in distributing loans to the SMEs and increasing intermediation functions by the provision of technical assistance, he said.
