This was disclosed by Deputy Minister of Transportation Bambang Susantono in the sidelines of a declaration the Indonesian Ground Handling Association AGHI) in Kuta Monday night.
"We have been testing the urine samples of the pilots of several airline companies at Ngurah Rai airport to determine whether they have or have not been using drugs," he said.
He said the result of the tests held behind closed doors no pilot were found to have used narcotics.
"Everybody is clean and nobody has any indication of having used narcotics which is a threat to aviation," he said.
But Bambang did not disclose the number of pilots and their airline companies being tested.
Bambang said referring to the narcotic use by a Lion Air pilot some time ago, he is still making considerations whether or not the airline company of the junkie pilot will be subjected to a sanction.
"If there has been an intent of the airline company allowing its pilot to use narcotics, we will of course impose a sanction," he said.
It has been reported that the the National Narcotic Agency has been arresting the pilot of Lion Air for consuming methyl amphetamine in a Garden Palace Hotel room in Surabaya on Saturday (Feb 4).
The police found and seized the evidence from the pilot, initial SS (44) of Serpong, Tangerang, Banten, in the form of several packs of myth amphetamine weighing 0,4 grams ready for consumption.(*)
