Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Japanese Embassy in Jakarta will present Japan Pop Culture Festival 2012 from February 25-26 at Plaza Senayan building, an official said.

"The Japan Pop Culture Festival is the first ever held in the world where we will be presenting to the Indonesian people Japanese pop culture, including songs, anime characters, hair styles and fashions," Japan`s Vice Ambassador to Indonesia, Junji Shimada, said here on Tuesday.

He added that the event was being held as part of the one year commemoration of the tsunami and earthquake that hit Japan last March 2011.

"This festival is not only designed to offer a thankful message from the Japanese to the Indonesian people for their support to Japan during the past year, but also to share with the Indonesian people the fact that Japan is continuously rising after the quake," he added.

Among the activities during the Japan Pop Culture Festival 2012 are a hair and make up show, Kawaii fashion show, anime workshop and a demonstration on arranging preserved flowers. There will also be a performance by Japanese pop group AKB48 and its Jakarta-based sister group, JKT48.

Further, the event will feature the screening of the film made of the L`Arc-en-Ciel (Japanese band) concert and Naruto (Japanese manga/cartoon).
