In a press statement from the ministry of tourism and creative economy received here on Saturday the opening of the BIC was marked by the signing of a plaque by deputy minister of tourism and creative economy, Sapta Nirwandar, in the company of Indonesian ambassador to South Korea, Nicholas T Damnen and BIC chief Kim Soo-il in Busan, South Korea, on Friday.
With the opening of the BIC it is hoped various kinds of information about Indonesia such as tourism, culture, economy and politics could be spread, it said.
More than 200 guests attended the opening ceremony including South Korean parliamentary member Kim Jung Hoon, the chairman of the Busan City Council, Je Jong Mo, the president of Busan`s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Cho Sung Jae and the North Busan District administrator, Hwang Jae Kwan.
Several local media also covered the event such as Busan Daily, KKN TV and Kukje News, it added.
The ceremony was also marked by cultural performances such as traditional dance performances, it said.
It is hoped the BIC would increase Indonesian promotion in South Korea and deepen the relations between the two countries.
South Korea has so far seen Indonesia as an attractive tourism destination as shown by increasing number of South Koreans visiting the country.
In 201o the number of South Korean tourists to Indonesia reached 281,785 and it rose by 7.24 percent to 302,184 in 2011.
The Indonesian ministry of tourism expects the number will continue to increase to eight millions in 2012, it said.
