"We hope that by the end of May, gas would be flowing to PLN."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State-owned oil and gas company Pertamina said its gas floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), built in Jakarta`s northern sea, will begin supplying gas to state electricity firm PLN at the end of next month.
Pertamina`s Senior Vice President for Gas Nanang Untung said here on Friday that Pertamina`s FSRU ship was expected to be on standby in Jakarta`s northern sea by April 29, 2012.
"We will then carry out a series of trials for 60 days. We hope that by the end of May, gas would be flowing to PLN," he stated.
With a capacity of 1.5 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG), the FSRU Regas Satu ship will pass through a cooling-down stage for 20 days and commissioning stage for 40 days.
On April 12, 2012, the ship, which was built at Singapore`s Jurong Shipyard, departed for Jakarta`s northern sea.
In the meantime, a ship carrying LNG from East Kalimtan`s Bontang refinery would also depart on April 25, for the Jakarta FSRU.
"Thus, on April 29, the ship carrying LNG is expected to be attached to the FSRU facility," Nanang said.
The floating gas storage unit, which was built since May 27, 2011, is the first such facility in Indonesia.
The floating gas facilities are planned for two units Regas Satu and Regas Dua with a combined capacity of three million tons.
