"Do not throw garbage into the river."
Purwokerto, Central Java (ANTARA News) - Dozens of activists and nature lovers in Purwokerto, Banyumas district, Central Java province commemorated the Earth Day on Sunday by cleaning the Banjaran river.

They came from various universities and youth organizations in Navan. They enthusiastically cleaned the river from rubbish.

"We urge people not to dispose of any waste. Do not throw garbage into the river," Action coordinator Apris Nur Rahmadani said here on Sunday.

He said every day people living around the river still depended on the river`s water.

Therefore, Banjaran river must be clean and people utilize it.

According to him, the garbage collected in a clean action is close to one ton.

Along the way, they were also speeches to inspire people to realize the importance of the earth to be free from rubbish.

The Earth Day is also celebrated by a number of elements of the community and students in the youth center.
