"I believe that the main principle and goals of NAM are as important."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Former Yugoslavia`s foreign minister Budimir Loncar believed that the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) is still relevant today.
"I believe that the main principle and goals of NAM are as important as they were at the time of its establishment," Loncar said here on Thursday in a discussion relating to the NAM`s 50th commemoration.
Budimir Loncar served as ambassador of the former Yugoslavia in Indonesia from 1965 upto 1969. He also served as the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General to NAM, which was then chaired by Indonesia.
Budimir Loncar is now special advisor to the Croatia president.
NAM was founded by Yugoslavia`s President, Josip Broz Tito, India`s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, Egypt`s President, Gamal Abdel Nasser, Ghana`s first president Kwame Nkrumah, and Indonesia`s first President, Soekarno.
