Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Russian President Vladimir Putin called President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at 10.30 p.m. here on Thursday night following the crash of Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100 plane in Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday.

President Yudhoyono during the talks welcomed President Putin`s offer and request for cooperation in the investigation and identification of victims of the incident, presidential special aide for international affairs Teuku Faizasyah said to ANTARA.

"President Putin conveyed two things to President Yudhoyono namely a request for cooperation for forensic identification of the victims in the incident for which Russia also have experts in the field and an offer to send experts for identification of wreckage," he said.

Faizasyah who accompanied President Yudhoyono during the talks with the newly-inaugurated Russian president said President Yudhoyono welcomed the request and offer and had contacted offices concerned to immediately follow them up.

President Yudhoyono also asked for conveying the information about the planned cooperation to the families of the victims so that they could understand it as a form of government`s responsibility for the incident.

At a press conference at Halim Perdanakusuma military airport on Thursday morning, President Yudhoyono had asked for thorough investigation into the incident with regard to knowing why the aircraft had lost contact while conducting a demonstration flight carrying domestic aviation people and journalists.(*)
