The first-quarter capital spending was far higher than that of the same period last year because it rose almost three folds.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government expects capital spending in the first half of this year to reach 25 percent of the target of Rp168.7 trillion set in the revised 2012 state budget, Deputy Finance Minister Anny Ratnawati said.
Capital spending on the development of infrastructure facilities was not as fast as the government had expected because 75 percent of it would be realized in the second semester of 2012, she said here on Monday.
Anny said capital spending would outstrip the target because in the first quarter of 2012 it increased three folds compared to the same period last year.
"The first-quarter capital spending was far higher than that of the same period last year because it rose almost three folds," she said.
The deputy finance minister expressed hope that infrastructure projects in the eastern part of Indonesia financed with unspent budget would be realized soon following discussions between non-ministerial government agencies and the House of Representatives (DPR).
She said the DPR had approved the use of unspent budget for infrastructure projects.
If tender documents for the projects had been ready and the projects could be implemented the use of unspent budget for infrastructure projects would reach 85 percent of the total amount, he noted.
"We hope if the documents have been ready nearly 80 percent to 85 percent of the unspent budget can be absorbed," she said.
To expedite the use of capital spending, she said the government intended to implement revised presidential regulation number 54 of 2010 on the procurement of goods and services soon.
"It (the revised presidential regulation) is expected to be issued later this month. Let us wait," she said.
