"The fact is the location of the incident is an illegal mining area."
Bogor (ANTARA News) - Eight people were killed following a landslide in an illegal gold mine in Jasinga sub-district, Bogor district, West Java, on Friday.

"We have made an inventory and eight people have been found dead due to the incident," head of logistics section of the Bogor district`s Disaster Mitigation Agency, Budi Aksono, said here on Friday.

He said he did not yet know if more victims had not yet been found.

"The fact is the location of the incident is an illegal mining area and so no record is available of how many were there when the incident happened," he said to ANTARA News.

Budi said he and a team from the agency had tried to enter the location but hundreds of people generally illegal miners had blocked our way.

"Finally, we just wait at the foot of the hill and record bodies being brought down. The evacuation was done by the miners themselves," he said adding "we are avoiding a clash with them."

The bodies of the victims were taken care of by their respective families.

Budi hoped the authorities would find the solution to overcome the problem.
