Ambon, Maluku (ANTARA News) - Three residents were killed after being trapped in three houses following a landslide and hoards of garbage that buried them here early Sunday, Kudamati village chief
has said.

The fatalities were identified as Noor Nirahuwa (51) and her grandchild, Putri Nirahua (8) and Evy Karual, the Kudamati village chief, Herman Tetelepta said, adding that the accident occurred at 2.50 am Sunday following heavy rain.

The dead victims and another one who was found alive were evacuated to dr. M. Haulussy general hospital, he said.

Meanwhile, Search and Rescue (SAR) team has yet to find other three persons buried under the landslide at the Batu Gantung area of Kudamati village, Nusaniwe sub-district, Herman said.

"The SAR team sought the victims slowly because they were trapped in three houses buried under the hoards of garbage," Herman said.

The three victims who are still under searching activity identified as Shilviya Moa, a student of Ambon Pattimura University (Unpatti), Bola Karual and his spouse Bety Karual, the spokesman said.

Shilviya, supposed to have been buried under the collapsed concrete house, while four of her house-mates survived, he said.

Two years ago, landslides which happened in the same area, killed eight persons, Herman added. (*)
