Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Police have named five suspects in the murder of a Betawi Brotherhood Forum (FBR) leader in Jakarta`s southwestern outskirts of Pondok Aren early Wednesday.

"The five suspects are among the 13 witnesses questioned in the case," spokesman of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Snr Comr Rikwanto said on Friday.

He added that the five were suspected of beating to death the FBR member Muhidin alias Picu.

The suspects were identified as Ari Junianzah (19), Abdul Kohar (30), Abdulloh (30), Mulyadi (30) and Yandi Margucan (19). They were believed to be members of the branch of the Pancasila Youth movement.

He said police were still seeking nine other people who were allegedly involved in the case. They were identified by their initials as RO, DS, MR, SQ, AP, S, DM, MA and DS.

The nine people played a role in the murder, he said.

Police said earlier that some 50 unidentified motorcyclists approached a FBR post where some ten FBR members had gathered.

The motorcyclists later attacked the FBR members, causing most of them to flee.

Muhidin, however, stayed behind to try to fight off the attackers, which led to his death.(*)
